Sycamore Hill Farms Original Recipe
Lentil Gumbo Soup
1 lb. Dry Lentils
2 lrg Onions - Chopped in Medium pieces
1 lb. Smoked Sausage
1 lb. Frozen or Fresh Okra - Cut in rings
1 tsp Southern Seasoning
3 Qts Water
Place 3 quarts of water on to heat in a 6 qt. dutch oven.  Add Southern Seasoning, Lentils and bring
to a boil.  While water is heating; chop onion in medium pieces and add to water.  Cut sausage into
halves then quarters lengthways and chop into small pieces and add to mixture.  Let soup come to
a boil and then add okra.  Cook for about 30-45 minutes or until Lentils are tender and mixture has
thickened to a gumbo status.
Serve with rice and cornbread, garnish with slices of onion or scallians.
